The books are finished!

Finally, the books are ready. It has been a really interesting - yet lengthy - process of designing, printing, cutting, binding etcetera. It makes me appreciate graphic arts projects even more then I used to. And at the end, holding real books, gives a big kick!

Here's what I made:

Book 1; 'Roltrap' 33cm x 21cm, appr. 45 pages, hard cover.

Detail of the binding, which is basically Japanese stab binding with a twist.

Book 2; 'Maandagmorgen', 40cm x 22cm, appr. 35 pages, hard cover.

I made 5 of both as a first (signed and numbered) batch. I've kept one of both as a sample, the remaining 4 of 'Perron' were sold out at the exhibition. A 'Maandagmorgen' is still available for 35 euro excluding shipping. If you're interested, just visit my website www.joco.me and send me a mail.

Final preparations

I submitted all my prints at the gallery today. Very exiting!

Work in progress

I set myself the goal of finishing new books and have them ready for the exhibition on the 2nd of February. First step is complete, I picked up the prints today at Jubels (website). They really know how to print!

Up next: cutting, folding. laminating, glueing, drilling and stitching. Long way to go still.....

Looking forward to the results. Should be so much nicer then Blurb at about the same cost.

Presentation @ FGVB

The photo-club of the GVB (the Amsterdam public transport company) kindly invited me to present my pictures. It is a great group of people and the feedback was very positive. A really nice experience, not in the lease because of the location in the tram shelter (remise Lekstraat).

Monday Morning staff pick @ Blurb.com!

The second book I published at Blurb features the 'Monday Morning' series. I like these pictures a lot and the book is a very nice experience seeing them hard copy. Hopefully the book will help realizing a dream, which is to have a couple of these printed out large. Should be a really wonderful sight in a large space. The smaller prints in Caf-Vino look great, imagine that bigger......

Anyway, the people @ Blurb helped a lot! They selected it as 'staff pick'! I am very honored.

I received the first copy of my book on the metro series. It took a long time to select the images, arrange them, work on the layout, so it was special to finally hold it. The print quality and binding are really on a high standard. Thumbs up to Blurb.
